Ørsted volunteers get their craft on with Girl Guiding Anglia in Norfolk

A team of Ørsted volunteers set up stall in Norfolk to talk to hundreds of girl guides about the wonderful world of renewable energy and offshore wind.
As well as putting on fun activities, including using pedal power to generate electricity on a special bike and constructing mini wind turbines, the team talked to the girls about their own experiences in the sector.

They were also able to share about the work we’re doing in Norfolk in constructing Hornsea 3, the world’s single largest offshore wind farm. We explained how construction on the Hornsea 3 wind farm onshore will combine with work offshore to supply clean power to more than 3 million homes.

Emma Toulson, Head of Stakeholder Relations at Ørsted, said:

“We all had a fantastic time at Girlguiding Anglia’s  Hautbois Fest. The girls were super interested in what was on offer, including making turbines with craft materials, trying to generate as much power as they could muster on our energy bike or learning from talking to us about what offshore wind was all about.

“As well as highlighting Ørsted’s activities in Norfolk, it’s really important for us to inspire this younger generation so that they may one day aspire to work in the renewables sector.”
