On Thursday 21st November, representatives from Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 and the Oxford Archaeology teams will hold an information session at the Cawston Village Hall from 1-6.30pm.

They’ll discuss and show the discoveries made by a team of 40 archaeologists, which reveal more about Norfolk’s rich history.

This includes a Neolithic (4000 – 2200 BC) site on a hilltop overlooking the Wensum Valley, which the archaeologists believe was used as a meeting site, as well as two significant Roman sites and a dozen Medieval ones that show life near existing Norfolk villages.

The survey was required before works could start on Hornsea 3 as it is a nationally significant infrastructure project.

Patrick Moan, the head of field work at Oxford Archaeology, led the team for the Hornsea 3 work.

He said: “This work being undertaken across all major, nationally significant developments, provides so much valuable data to us as archaeologists, but it also provides a sense of place to local communities about what came before them.”
